it's an epic because its a story about achilles, that has gods as characters, and it doesn't show the hero as being perfect.Epic-A poem that narrates the story of a hero. something that is better than average. something that is unusually large.

- The Heroes aren't perfect. Agamemnon doesn't listen to his army because of greed. Lines 30-40
- Gods are direct characters. Apollo starts killing Agamemnon's Army. Lines 52-60
